Don’t Hide What You Do–Your Visitors Won’t Dig for It
Your visitors are busy and impatient. You have less than 10 seconds to engage them. They want to know exactly what you do and how you can meet their needs. And, depending on what you do, a strong graphic is equally important.
An example of a site that most visitors won’t dig, is this landscape architect. First, you must wait for a meaningless flash intro. Then you are presented with hard to read reverse type and a strange monchromatic image of someone who appears to be lying down in a garden.
If his gardens are breathtaking and beautiful, you sure wouldn’t know it from his home page. He has wasted his 10 seconds of visitor attention. They’ll be off somewhere else to smell the roses.
